Bifocal and Trifocal lenses

Bifocal lenses make it possible to see sharply both up close and far away. A dividing line separates the two different spheric segments. The two parts of a bifocal lens have the same optical characteristics as a single vision lens. With bifocal lenses, it is not possible to see intermediate distances sharply.

The near segments are either curved ("C"') or straight ("S"). "Curved" means that the near segment is rounded off on the top. The advantage of this is that the residual reflections are reduced. "Straight" means that the near segment has a straight separation edge.

The Trifocal lenses, like bifocal lenses, have a distance and near segment as well as a middle segment right above the reading section that makes it possible to see intermediate distances clearly. The disadvantage with bifocal and trifocal lenses is that there are image jumps which result from the different prismatic effects of the near and distance segments.

Bifocal lens with a very large near segment. Centred bifocal lens (executive)  with a straight, shouldered line of separation. The near segment height is 34 mm. Suitable for children's glasses prescribed for squinting (accommodative near vision).

Organic single vision lens (lenticular lens) for high corrections in the positive number range. The diameter of the effective optical range is 40 mm.

The advantage of the aspheric is the large, interference-free field of vision with very good image detail. The aspheric design makes the lenses lighter and flatter. Magnification of the eyes is reduced. Designed for hyperopia and aphakia.
